First Post — The Next Six Months

I will be traveling quite a bit over the next year. In two weeks I am going to Talkeetna for archaeology field school through Adelphi University of New York. I am stopping over in Seattle for four days to visit Margot on the way. I am excited to see her. After the field school ends on June 24, I am going back to Kasilof to start commercial fishing with my dad. Margot is going to join me there and fish with us for the season. Fishing will end around mid-August.

In late August I have a three day orientation in London to prepare for a semester abroad in Bodhgaya, Bihar, India. Bodhgaya is a rural town and an important place for Buddhism. According to Buddhist lore, Buddha became enlightened under the bodhi tree in the town. I will be living in a Burmese Vihar monastery studying Buddhist religious practice, philosophy and contemporary anthropology.

It's a beautiful morning in Saratoga Springs and I have one more paper due on Friday before the semester is over.
